Essentially, a Atmos enabled home theater system recreates the cinematic experience. It adds a 3rd dimension – height – to the sound system. This is done with speakers located above the listener (in-ceiling) or tower/bookshelf type with additional drivers aimed upward that reflect off the ceiling. You’ll also need:
- Atmos encoded content – Some BluRay Discs are available now – many coming.
- Atmos capable A/V receiver that can decode the soundtrack
- BluRay player that can retrieve Atmos encoded sound track. Most current BluRay players are capable.
- Atmos speakers – either in-ceiling or reflective tower or bookshelf speakers
